Now, the representative has explained more abuse of abuse of airtags after undergoing 150 police reports where Apple’s object trackers are deployed by bad actors to overshadow the victims and their torment. The report, which was submitted over the eight-month range, almost exclusively had traumatized women who were traumatized using airtags planted in a car or daily use accessory by ex-partners and acquaintances.

Investigations are only one more in the long queue of complaints that have pared the destructive potential of airtags. Many experts and privacy activists have warned that airtag can allow harassment in a frightening way. In addition to stalking, airtag is reported to be misused by bad actors for car theft too. Even though Apple is not the only brand that offers object trackers, the global location network and hundreds of millions of handheld proxy devices in the form of iPhone make the airtag that offers the most embarrassed out there. For average users, a broad network is good news to find missing objects, but evil parties can exploit it to a greater level too.

However, the intense supervision faced by airtags has also caused positive changes, encouraging Apple to make changes that reduce the potential of airtag abuse. If you are worried about airtags secretly to spell you, make sure your cellphone runs iOS 14.5 or Build later to ensure that it automatically detects an unknown tracker and sends notifications to you by telephone. Tapping the notification will let the user play voice and also get directed cues to help find it.

After the airtag is detected, the user can choose to deactivate Ping by removing the battery. Scanning the serial number on airtag can help users contact the original owner. And if there are concerns of abuse, users are advised to connect with law enforcement authorities to take the necessary actions by exploring back to the airtag owner.

Apple has confirmed that it will work with law enforcement authorities and give them the details needed to capture bad actors. If you do not have an iPhone, Apple has also released an Android application called Tracker Detect that allows users to scan nearby trackers that are capable of sticking to Apple’s Find Network. But unlike iPhone, scanning needs to be done manually on Android phones to find hidden airtags. Fortunately, Google seems to be working on the original Bluetooth Tracker Detection System on an Android phone.
